Replacing what was removed

God will replace what was removed

Experiencing loss can be quite devastating. I’m sure we’ve all walked that path at one point or another in our lives. Job was very familiar to it all. The bible says that in one day he lost his 10 children along with all his possessions and wealth. Not too much time had passed when he was afflicted with a terrible disease. (Read Job 1 and 2)

You’ve been purposed

for a reason and there is a specific blueprint for your life. It’s all part of the plan, God’s plan.

Imagine being in Job’s shoes, apparently there was no logic for his suffering (he didn’t know the purpose at the time). A little bit of pain and suffering is understandable but the things he endured seemed so unfair. Job lost it all, and for what? He was simply a faithful servant of God. Was it even worth it? Just like Job, many times we don’t understand why we must suffer and go through so much hardship, even to the point of questioning why God allows certain things to happen in our lives.

One thing that is admirable about Job and we can all learn from or be reminded of is his resilience. Job never doubted God. Regardless of what he was going through and what he had lost along the way, Job continued to trust God.  He says in chapter 1:21 “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will leave this life. The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.” What a powerful declaration! No matter what, Job continued to praise His Creator. He didn’t understand why God allowed so much calamaties in his life but he still worshiped. Listen to me, when you can’t make sense of what’s going on in your life, just worship! Worship the One who understands it all. This reminds me of what David said in Psalms 103:2 “My soul, bless the Lord, and do not forget all his benefits”. David understood the secret behind true worship, which was to always have a grateful heart. David never suffered from spiritual amnesia, he remembered all of the benefits He had received from God. He remembered the times God came through for him in the past and that gave him the strength and the hope to trust Him for future challenges. Our worship is not dependent on what we have or don’t have. Whether we have it all, or have nothing, He is deserving of our worship.

The story of Job ends in chapter 42 where we read how God blessed him abundantly. Verse 10 says, “… the Lord restored his fortunes and doubled his previous possessions. God gave Job a double portion of all he’d lost.

Today I want to encourage you to put your trust completely in the One who can replace what has been removed and restore what has been taken away. You don’t have to understand why God allows certain things to happen, you just have to trust that what He allows is for a reason. You’ve been purposed for a reason and there is a specific blueprint for your life. It’s all part of the plan, God’s plan. I don’t know what needs mending in your life right now, but I pray that God begins a healing process in you. Deuteronomy 30: 3 assures us that the Lord will restore all that we have lost.

What is it that you need to surrender to Him today? Is it your marriage, a relationship, a friendship, your finances, your health, your heart, your future? Whatever it is, God wants to heal and restore you. As you worship, walk in obedience, humility and faithfulness, you will begin see what God will to do in your life.

Be Encouraged, Be Blessed!
