Well Done

I’m living my whole life just to hear two words: Well Done.

When I think about these words, I am reminded of the public life we all display for the world to see. These words remind us that people are paying attention to what we do and how we do them. What we say and how we say things are important. Our attitudes matter. How we carry ourselves says a lot about who we are. 2 Corinthians 3:2-3 talks about how we are open letters. It says that our lives are a letter written in our hearts so that everyone can read it. What does your letter say? What are people reading about you"?

“Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.” We often read this scripture found in Matthew 25:21 and associate it with the end of our life on earth. But what if I told you that we do not have to wait until the end of life to ponder on these words? We can live each day with those two powerful words in mind. When we become intentional with everything we do in life, “Well Done” becomes a daily pursuit rather than just an eternal longing.

Everything we do

here on earth has an eternal response.

It’s not easy to live intentionally and with these words constantly in mind, but it is possible. When you are intentional about living those words out, you gracefully keep pushing through, no matter what. Disappointments will knock on the door and you will want to give up, but when the Lord gently whispers into your ear, “I know it’s been difficult..I know you’ve wanted to give up but you haven’t….Well Done, my child.” It is God who gives you strength when you have none. He gives hope when all seems hopeless, He keeps you going. He is the One standing on the sidelines cheering you on when you just want to give up. It is He who is watching you—not your parents, not significant other, not your teacher or boss, not your relatives or friends but Your Heavenly Father. As you face obstacles that challenges your faith, know that if your trust is completely placed in Him, He is proud of you; yes, your Heavenly Father is proud of you!

Life is full of adversities that will try to derail us from the purpose God has created us for. As long as we keep an eternal perspective while here on earth, everything we do will be done intentionally and on purpose.
When we understand that this life is nothing but a short period of time, a tiny fraction in the grand scheme of things that influences our eternity, then our viewpoint changes quite significantly.

What is God saying about you right now? Are you living a life that is pleasing to Him? Are you being a faithful steward with the gifts He has given you? You see, faithfulness to God is obedience and following His commands. He gives all of us gifts to invest in the world around us, particularly in ways that show His love to others. How are we showing His love to our neigbor? Are we being intentional with our words, with our actions, with the resources the Lord has entrusted us with? These are questions we should be asking ourselves if we want to live intentionally. Trusting God to use our gifts in the way He wants to isn’t always easy because it's much more convenient to do things our way rather than His. Ultimately, children and even adults long for their parents approval and praise; how much more wouldn’t we want to make our Heavenly Father proud?

I cannot wait to stand before Jesus one day and hear Him say to me, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” That’s all I strive to hear. Those are the two most important words we could ever desire to hear. It’s not “…good and faithful author, blogger, preacher, pastor, worshiper, musicians, influencer, business owner…etc.” We are mere servants of God. What other words could be more meaningful than those expressed in Matthew 25:21? I want to hear Him say, “Well Done” but in the meantime, I want to live a purposeful life that brings honor and glory to Him, one in which He is pleases when He reads my heart’s letter. A letter that expresses how much I love Him. Let us remember that we still have an opportunity to hear the sweet and gentle voice from the Lord that whispers “Well Done, my son, my daughter! Keep pressing forward, you’re almost there”. Friends, let us not grow weary, let us not give up. Everything we do here on earth has an eternal response. The letters of our hearts, when read out loud by our Lord and Savior should translate into these two words, “Well Done”.

Be Encourage, Be Blessed!
