God Isn't In A Hurry, You Are.
God isn’t in a hurry, you are. Stop rushing Him and start resting in Him.
The Bible is clear: God is not in a hurry.
God had a plan to send his Son to fulfill the most important mission here. However, Jesus came to earth as a baby. He endured the process of growth like any other child would— like we all did. The Father could have sent Him to complete the mission as a fully grown man. But what looked as “wasted years”, God viewed it differently. The bible says in Luke 2:52, “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man”. Our growth process matters to God and He uses our circumstances to develop and mature our character. There is purpose in your process, you just have to stick around long enough to see it.
Whatever it is that you’re waiting for,
you can trust that it’s coming—in God’s timing.
One of the most frustrating things in life is when you’re in a hurry and God is not. I’ll take it a step further, many times it seems as He’s taking His sweet ol’ time.. on purpose! You’re like “Seriously, I needed you to come through for me like yesterday”. But one thing that I have learned over the years is that God is unfazed by our impatience. Listen, He will not expedite a request if it’s not time, no matter how bad you want it. The prodigal son teaches us that a premature blessing is not a blessing at all, it's a curse. And many of us are asking God for blessings we are not ready to receive. Do you know that many of our problems are caused by our inability to wait. Patience is one of the fruit of the Spirit and by nature we do not like to wait. This is why it’s important to rely on the Holy Spirit so that we are able to bear fruit.
Let’s go back to Jesus for a moment, nowhere in Scripture do we see that He was in a rush. Let’s take for example the story of His friend Lazarus. (Read John 11:1-44). The Bible says he was very sick and his sisters sent word to Jesus. This was the message: “Lord, the one you love is sick.” In other words, hurry up and get here because not just a random person, but Your friend is sick. And we know if you get here, you can just heal Him and everything will be back to normal. Can you imagine the amount of pressure Jesus must have felt when He heard this? None! He felt no pressure at all. I don’t read anywhere where He freaked out, where He ran out, where He dropped everything He was doing to make it there on time. He response to the message by saying “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.” The bible continues to say that when Jesus heard about His friend’s sickness, He stayed where He was at for two additional days! What?! Yes, He really did! But here’s the thing, Jesus didn't want to do the same thing He had done in the past and He certainly didn't want things to go back to normal. Jesus had a bigger plan in mind! Allow me to say this, many times God’s plan will not make sense to you, much less to anyone else. It’s okay, it doesn’t have to make sense, you just have to trust His plans. Jesus took His time to get to His friend’s house and when He got there it was “too late:—Lazarus had already died.
Don’t you think Jesus knew what was happening? Of course He did. If He would have left two days ago when He was notified, the story would have been completely different. You see, what apparently seems “too late” to man is a “miracle in motion” for God. This is why it’s so important to trust Him because His plans will always be bigger and better than what we could ever imagine it to be. Jesus didn’t want to heal His friend, He had done that to so many other people. He wanted to do something different and bigger. Jesus wanted to do a miracle! And boy, what a miracle it was—read the story!
I know its easier to want to take matters into your own hands, especially when you don’t see God “doing anything”. But if you practice patience and trust in His perfect plan, you will not be disappointed. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 3:11, “God . . . does everything just right and on time, but people can never completely understand what he is doing” (NCV).
God has a plan for your life, and His plan is precise—never too early, never too late. Nine out of ten times, your timing will not align with His and you need to be okay with knowing that at some point in your life, there will be waiting involved. Remember that God is never in a hurry, He is always on time. So today I want to encourage you to stop rushing Him and start resting in Him. Whatever it is that you’re waiting for, you can trust that it’s coming—in God’s timing.
Be Encouraged, Be Blessed!
